The vote in Roydon, Essex
Driving through Roydon in Essex, today, and it’s breathtaking. Many huge, beautiful, thatched houses. It has a large farming community and there’s a nursery every 200 metres. There’s a consistent mood with the forthcoming election, too. A large number of banners urging us to “Vote Conservative”, a surprising number of placards saying “UKIP - Say no Europe”, and - in case you’re wondering what the theme is here - plenty of signs outside farm gates reading “Manure”.
(If it’s any compensation, these attempts at humour hurt me more than they hurt you.)
