Election night special report, part III

Update 0156hrs: Hornsey and Woodgreen goes from Labour to the LibDems with a whopping 15% swing to the yellow team.

Update 0208hrs: Peter Law, ejected from standing for Labour due to an all-women shortlist - and now standing as an independent - has trounced all-Labour woman, Maggie Jones in Blaenau Gwent.

Update 0212hrs: I see man in the Sedgefield crowd wearing a tasteless red and blue stiped blazer and I can’t help thinking “Must be UKIP”. Not sure if it’s sad that I’m stereotyping UKIP, or if they genuinely deserve it.

Update 0215hrs: Peter Law is giving his vindication speech, but it’s no Peter Mandelson I-I-I speech. There’s a lot of talk about the people of Blaenau and of integrity. It’s easy to see how he won.

Update 0218hrs: Iain Duncan Smith giving an interview from Chingford, and then interrupted by the result from Sedgefield. Tish! Steamrollered by the unstoppable Tony Blair once again.

Update 0226hrs: At this stage both the LibDems and the Conservatives have gained 5 seats (plus 1 independent gain). So proportionally a much better night so far for the LibDems. But there’s been no Basildon moment so far, no real upsets. I’m still holding my breath.

Update 0246hrs: A bad night for David Davies, shadow home secretary - he’s kept his seat, and the Conservatives are doing reasonably well, so his leadership dreams are dashed. Stephen Twigg has lost Enfield Southgate to the Conservatives.

Update 0251hrs: Tony Blair’s masochism strategy is has reached its peak as he has to stand there and listen to his opponent Reg Keys make a damning speech about the death of his son in Iraq. Mr Blair is stony-faced
