First of all my dad kept on finding these elastic bands.. i said it were just non-sense, but gradually he started to find more and more and more.. On my way to school i would find them scattered all around my route to school. As time past they became more frequent. Everyday .. 'look ive found 8 today'
i was getting more puzzled by the day. I tried to think of a reasonable explanation but i just couldnt figure it out.. maybe it was a sign .. maybe some spies..It started to get really strange..then my relative found loads where they lived.. this couldnt of just been a cohencidence!
when i eventually found it that is was the pesky royal mail..omg..i were so disapointed..i were hoping for something a bit better....
at least they came in handy to keep my brothers collections of cards together !! :D thanks mr postman!

Ben, are you serious? Royal Mail use distinctive elastic bands so that we can tell who's littering the streets?

my cousin works for royal mail and told me the reason to this.
before the red elastic bands, they used to use normal ones and they were made to stop because people did not know who dropped them
royal mail now only use red elastic bands because NOone else can buy these so people will know that it MUST be royal mail droping them
thanks

I am doing the Queen's Guide Award and for a year I have to complete a community project, and I have chosen to collect these bands aswell! I see them all over the place so have decided to spend a year collecting them and researching. I'm amused and also not particularly surprised to find others doing the same thing!

I've picked around 10 in the last 2 weeks or so and I think it must be the US folks or the Soviets (oh yeah, they still do exist) who want us the wear them (tightly) around our wrists so that the veins get squeezed, the blood won't get pumped and everybody will die. Ok, kidding. Frankly speaking, it's been a weird thing finding those thingies and I hope there's more to it than just the postmen dropping them.

Hey how are you doing.
Please be assured that the Royal Mail supply of elastic bands are put to good use and a very vital part of our working shift here at Royal Mail somewhere in Cheshire. When we get a spare moment or two we play target practice with the bands with our playmates woops I mean workmates. It must be working as we are all very happy and covered in brusies but profits are up. If you do find any of these redish bands littering your streets just pop them in your nearest post box as we would be greatful for the extra ammo. Take cover I am nearly out of bands.
Love and peace to all

I LOVE the red elastic bands. Don't stop the postmen dropping them - I love picking them up, my kids love collecting them too.
Don't get worked up about them, kids and grown ups all over the country are collecting them and making their very own red elastic band balls - it is not just me - look http://www.43things.com/things/view/411518
