British/German culture envy
Today the Guardian reports on how German doctors are being recruited to make up shortfalls in the UK. In an interview with one German doctor looking to make the move, this made me choke on my coffee:
Dr Cordes, 39, who runs her own practice in Friedrichshain, in Berlin’s trendy, former communist east said: “We were told that British doctors can earn up to £250,000. In Germany you only earn this kind of money if you are a university professor.”
As much as a university professor? I can see the planes delivering Dr Cordes and her colleagues to the UK will be returning full of British university professors seeking careers in Germany.
