Bloggers save Doonesbury — “Modesty Blaise next” says activist
I was a little sorry to see Doonesbury go from G2, but the supplement has changed so much for the better overall, and you can’t get stuck in the past.
However, my sang froid was not shared by many other readers. It seems to have provoked a lot of comment on the Guardian’s feedback lines. So on the Editors’ blog we got a post headed “Should Doonesbury be saved? by Jeannette Page [...] 174 comments”. That would be a Yes, then.
One poster says slyly of strip’s omission:
Now I know why everyone is referring to the new-look Guardian as “the donut Guardian.” There’s a great big hole in the middle of it
And it seems G2’s editor, Ian Katz, has listened:
OK, OK. I’m coming out with my hands in the air.
I think that’s called a dialogue with your readership.
