Surely this wouldn’t be legal in the UK
Just got sent a magazine from the US, and it has this advert in it…

What caught my attention, and horrified me, was “Call for your sample carton offer”, like it’s a shampoo.
There are so many ways you can take this apart. “The tobacco in most cigarettes contains additives drawn from a list of 409 chemicals commonly used in tobacco products.” Not that any one cigarette will have 409 chemicals, you understand, but somewhere someone’s created a list of 409 chemicals and your current cigarette might will have one or two from that list. And on the back: “Nature is not negotiable” says the headline, reminding me of the Fry & Laurie herbal cigarette sketch (“nothing like a little leaf smoke to loosen the lungs, clear the head”). It continues to promote “cigarettes made with 100% certified organic tobacco”. You can have fun being an ad agency excutive. My slogan is “so now you can kill yourself without killing the planet”.
