Have a flick through some previous shots from http://www.chromasia.com/iblog/index.php for what you can really achieve with a good camera and a good eye. And if you are finding that there is still some noise in the image you might want to try Noiseware Community Edition (free version) at http://www.imagenomic.com/download.aspx (I think what makes chromasia so outstanding is the lack of noise in the images and he uses Noise Ninja)

Nice photo site. If the author describes a bit more about how he took the photos it will be even more useful. I’ve subscribed to the RSS feed anyway. Meanwhile I do have a noise problem (doctor), but I’m not sure how you infer that from the above photos, because the highly-dark/high-noise photos I took didn’t make it onto Flickr.
As it happens I found when I returned that I’d set the ISO to 1600, when 100-400 is recommended, though not too useful in low-light situations. I thought (wrongly) the camera would choose the most appropriate ISO setting. In fact that only happens in the auto-modes, not the manual ones. When I took and compared photos in ISO 800 and 1600 I found that I could still hold the camera steady enough at 800, and so lose the noise that comes in at 1600.
