A green response to the vehicle tracking petitioners
Simon has been spending some considerable time and space thinking about the infamous petition (almost 1.5m signatories as I write) protesting against vehicle tracking to help traffic charging and hence manage congestion. Personally I’m annoyed that so many people can be so selfish and short-sighted as to make such a NIMBYish protest, and to do so without proposing any alternative.
How can those with environmental concerns highlight these people’s foolishness? Start another earnest petition? No, we must take the moral high ground. There is only one thing we can do — must do.
We must all sign the petition to change the national anthem to “Gold” by Spandau Ballet.
Currently this has only 3,672 signatories. 3,673 now that I’ve added my name. And if we can push this to 1 or 2 million then two great things can happen. First, we make the anti-traffic-control petition look silly, because that protest is comparable with a bunch of 80s nostalgics. And second, we might get our national anthem changed to “Gold” by Spandau Ballet.
Sign it. And tell your friends. Spread the word. You know it’s right. You must always believe in your soul. You’ve got the power to know. You’re indestructabah-ahl. Always believe in, because you are gold!
Green gold.
