I joined Facebook… what now?
I joined Facebook, mainly out of frustration. A colleague sent me a link saying “this is great, we should be doing something about it”. It was a Facebook link, and Facebook pages are only visible to members, so I thought it was time, finally, to get with the programme. Daddio.
That was last week. I now have seven friends on Facebook, which is six and half more than I have in real life. But I’m struggling to work out what I’m supposed to do with Facebook now. It’s definitely useful. I can log in and use the news feed to keep in touch very easily with a large and loose network of people. This is a very good thing, and something I don’t get from elsewhere. But that’s it. I log in every day, and apart from reading the top few lines of my news feed I… well, I curate my page. And that’s it. If I could get my news feed via RSS I wouldn’t have to log in to Facebook at all, which would be ideal.
