I’ve just remembered why I don’t like ID cards
Of course ID cards will have reasonable security around them, and the Home Office spokesman is right when he said
The biometric means that it will be much more difficult to use somebody else’s identity
But that’s about an individual card. However safe the cards are, it’ll still be possible to burn a good chunk of the central database to CD ROM and lose it in the post. The difference is that next time there will be more data to lose.
