Just a note, that in Russell Brand’s video resignation and apology he’s standing in front of a picture of Joseph Stalin. Sadly you can’t quite see it on the video linked here, but it’s quite clear in the still on the front of my final edition Guardian. His positioning in this video won’t be accidental, so it only remains for us to interpet it. One thing I’m pretty sure of, it intentionally undermines the sincerity of his message.
This was a justified action. We are becoming worse than the USA when it comes to comedy!! So it was stupid and OTT! That is no excuse for the ridiculous response in the U.K. Have these people nothing else to think about? Are they all unemployed? I wait with baited breath the action which now must be taken against a parade of BBC “bullies”; Jeremy Paxman, Chris Moyles (Nicola, Girls Aloud), Frankie Boyle (Mock the Week, Katona, Diana…) and many, many more. None of these people deserve punishment in my opinion, but a precedent has been set!!! The only logical conclusion about why this incident is much worse than the others mentioned relates directly to age discrimination!!
